Facebook Gets a Recount

comScore and other hit recorders because the social site keep

coming up with new ad formats. comScore and Facebook have

talked about the technical discrepancy and the hit counting firm is working on a fix. Counting ad

hits on viral sites that frequently create new forms of ads that blur the lines between advertising

and content can be an accounting nightmare particularly when the changes occur in the middle

of the scoring period.

Photo Yahoo shares soar as Yang agrees to quit CEO post

Mr Yang made the decision to quit as CEO last month, the BBC was told

Jerry Yang, the co-founder of Yahoo, is to stand down as

the internet portal's chief executive officer.

His departure follows lengthy criticism of his stewardship of the

company, which has seen its share price collapse to about $10.

Earlier in the year he fought off a hostile takeover bid from

Microsoft which offered $33 a share.

Intel Core i7 processors hit

The Intel Core i7 processor is being bid up at online retailers--about a week before its official launch.

Though Intel isn't slated to launch the Core i7 processor until November 17, processors are ready for order at online retailers. The Core i7 represents the vanguard of Intel's new Nehalem microarchitecture.

PC Connection is selling the 2.66GHz Intel i7-920 processor with 8MB of cache memory for $334. The sales status is currently "on order." The official pricing from Intel--its pricing will likely be updated early next week--is expected to be lower at about $285 for the 920.

Stepping up to the i7-940, PC Mall is hawking the 2.93GHz "BOX CORE I7 940" for a pre-order price of $722. PC Connection lists it for $661. Intel's list price is expected to be approximately $560.

Intel, Alvarion Take WiMAX Kit to Africa

WiMAX company Alvarion on Monday said it will market a

pre-packaged “kit” that allows African carriers or non-governmental

organizations to quickly and inexpensively set up small

high-speed networks.The kit--which includes equipment,

support, and training for carriers and others to construct

networks of 1 to 5 wireless broadband cells--will be marketed along with Intel’s World Ahead Program.

Apple's iPhone Is No.1 Seller in U.S.

It wasn’t enough for Apple to steal the show from Research In Motion in the smartphone market with its iPhone. Now it  has surpassed  Motorola's Razr as the No.1 handset in the U.S., according to the NPD Group.

Apple’s iPhone 3G surpassed the Motorola Razr as the leading handset purchased by adult consumers in the U.S. in the third quarter of 2008,” the researcher reported Monday.

For the past 3 years, the once-market dominating Razr has been ranked by NPD as the top-selling consumer handset, but the hot spot now belongs to the sleek iPhone 3G, ahead of Razrs and BlackBerrys, respectively in second and third position.
